IST Chat Privacy & Data Handling
IST Chat uses a server database for account information, contacts, contact activity, message history, conversation membership, statuses and related metadata. Shared files are stored in protected server storage and linked from the database.
Who can see your messages?
Application APIs require login and conversation membership. The service operator and authorized server/database administrators may be able to access stored standard messages and files. This release does not offer end-to-end encryption. Organization master administrators can review server-readable messages. Legacy passphrase-encrypted messages are not decryptable by administrators without their original passphrase.
Online and typing
Last seen and typing events are retained or updated on the server. Presence and read receipt preferences are available in Profile & Settings.
Deletion and retention
Removing a contact does not automatically delete past messages. Deleting a message for yourself hides it from your interface; other records can be retained in the database. Expired statuses and unused uploads are removed by scheduled cleanup. Backups can have independent retention periods.
Security
Registration requires administrator approval. Use a strong password, HTTPS and authorized accounts. A server operator should establish and publish a complete legal privacy notice before collecting real user data.
